11 Leah’s note (disappeared)

Leah Roberts disappeared on a road trip following the spirit of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road.

She had left a note: “I’m not suicidal. I’m the opposite,” she reassured her sister and friends, and mentioned Kerouac. Along with the note, she had bundled some cash, approximately a month’s worth of her share of the rent and expenses, and suggested she would be returning eventually. The note was illustrated with a drawing of the Cheshire Cat‘s grin.^[3]

Her car was found crashed and abandoned in March 2000 on Mount Baker Highway in Whatcom County, Washington, United States, and Leah was finally reported missing.
